On-demand: A Second Look at Second Victims
Program Date/Time: Tuesday, May 22nd at 1:00 p.m. ET/12:00 p.m. CT
In an earlier webinar, clinical safety expert Paul Bricker, RPh attempted to define and explain the correlation between the three victims of a patient safety event: the patient, the caregiver and the organization as a whole.
In this follow-up session, Bricker will focus on the caregiver as second victim, helping attendees understand the scope of the second victim community, including peer supports, methods for measuring their current culture and how it supports — or doesn’t — the second victim.
Bricker will also help attendees understand the benefits of a holistic approach to all victims of patient safety events and how the triad of Patient Safety Organizations, a Just Culture and a supportive second victim program can amplify the benefits of each.
And finally, Bricker will close the loop and demonstrate how organizations that provider better support for second victims of patient safety events can report events more frequently, providing better data for performance improvement and — ultimately — a reduction in the frequency and severity of events going forward.
