Voalté’s Communication System Captures Cedars-Sinai Approval
Nurses and clinicians to use iPhone technology for improved communication, patient outcomes.
Sarasota, Florida, November 8, 2011- Voalté, a leader in clinical communication technology and software for healthcare institutions, and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center announced the launching of Voalté’s point-of-care communication solution, consolidating voice, alarm and text on the versatile iPhone platform.
Cedars-Sinai, the No. 1 ranked hospital voted by Los Angeles residents for the past 20 years, chose to standardize using Voalté’s system after a rigorous one-year research and testing phase. Voalté was compared to all existing and future planned smartphone communication solutions and was selected as the mobile point-of-care communication of choice.
With Voalté’s system, nurses and clinicians can send and receive presence-based text messages, make high definition voice calls across the hospital VoIP system, and receive critical care alarms on the iPhone, providing faster response to patient needs.
“As a hospital dedicated to innovation and the patient experience, we realized several years ago that mobile-based technology was the leading edge of point of care,” said Darren Dworkin, senior vice president and chief information officer at Cedars-Sinai. “Choosing Voalté’s system is in alignment with Cedars-Sinai’s dedication to incorporate state-of-the-art technology to increase efficiencies, improve patient safety and keep nurses and clinicians continuously connected throughout the hospital’s units. We plan to rollout over 1,000 iPhones in the next year.”
Cedars-Sinai partnered with Voalté to test the system and provide critical clinical feedback. This input was instrumental in developing approximately 30 additional features, enhancing Voalté’s existing technology, including workflow, delivery and support technology.
“By listening to Cedars-Sinai’s observations and incorporating the nurse and clinicians’ suggested features, we were able to provide advanced clinical efficiencies and faster responses to patient needs,” said Trey Lauderdale, Voalté’s vice president of innovation. “Thanks to our partnership, we were able to build a system that met Cedars-Sinai’s high standards.”
