The California Hospital Patient Safety Organization Selects Quantros as Its Technology Partner

Quantros technology and services solution streamlines CHPSO’s ability to provide patient safety improvement opportunities and legal protection for member hospitals.

San Francisco, CA, August 17, 2009 — Quantros, a leading provider of patient safety and quality software and professional services solutions for the healthcare industry, announces that it has been chosen by the California Hospital Patient Safety Organization (CHPSO) as its sole technology and services partner. CHPSO is a nonprofit corporation created by the California Hospital Association and is a federally certified Patient Safety Organization (PSO).

“We selected Quantros after a rigorous review of several potential partners,” said Rory Jaffe, MD MBA, Executive Director, CHPSO.” Quantros consistently ranked first in our selection criteria.”

Through the partnership, CHPSO will provide member hospitals an intuitive and powerful Web-based application for PSO data collection and submission and analysis within a secure, HIPAA compliant environment. CHPSO will also take advantage of a broad array of value-added Quantros PSO services and make them available to member hospitals. The Patient Safety Organization Manager (PSOM) solution from Quantros was designed specifically to help PSOs such as CHPSO achieve and maintain federal PSO certification requirements.

“The Quantros PSOM solution is much more than software,” said Jay Lechtman, Vice President of Consulting and Program Development at Quantros. “It’s a powerful combination of technology and relevant services designed to streamline a PSO’s ability to provide patient safety improvement opportunities and legal protection and for member hospitals.”

Recognizing that hospitals are already shouldering significant data reporting demands, CHPSO will provide participants with three reporting options designed to seamlessly integrate with existing data collection and reporting workflows via Quantros PSOM:

  • Automatic transfer of Patient Safety Work Product (PSWP) data into the CHPSO database from participants using the Quantros Safety and Risk Management (SRM) solution
  • An easy and secure PSWP data upload process for healthcare facilities using either internally developed or other commercial systems
  • Fast and efficient data entry screens to manually capture PSWP data from facilities using paperbased systems

“Our most critical requirement was that our partner provides hospitals with a nearly effortless reporting system,” said Dr. Jaffe. “With these three options, we believe data reporting will not be a barrier to CHPSO participation.”

Using Quantros PSOM CHPSO will provide standardized comparative reports allowing individual hospitals to measure and analyze performance in multiple ways. Accessible at any time, these reports will provide an aggregate view of a hospital’s own report data as well as that of comparable groups of hospitals — within California and nationally — via the application. Included will be aggregate data provided from the Network of Patient Safety Databases (NPSD) as well across all PSO member hospitals using the Quantros platform.

“We look forward to a successful partnership with Quantros,” said Dr. Jaffe. “I’m excited to partner with a company that’s equally dedicated to our mission of eliminating preventable harm and improving the quality of healthcare delivery in California hospitals.”
