Siemens Introduces New Capabilities to Improve the Efficiency of Clinical Laboratories
Expanded laboratory offerings help labs streamline workflow.
Deerfield, IL, July 21, 2009 — Siemens Healthcare has introduced three new clinical laboratory automation solutions that eliminate manual processes laboratory personnel perform in producing diagnostic test results for patient care. By automating certain steps of the process, laboratories can improve the efficiency and quality of their operations, and reduce the time to produce diagnostic test results.
Siemens introduced the capability for the ADVIA Centaur® XP Immunoassay System to connect to the VersaCellTM System, a compact automation system offering advanced sample management and sorting capabilities, allowing clinical laboratory customers to maximize the number of tests run on one workcell and improve the efficiency of their operations. With the VersaCell system, customers with higher test volumes can now access one of the broadest menus of routine and specialty immunoassays by connecting the ADVIA Centaur XP Immunoassay System to the IMMULITE® Immunoassay Systems. Additionally, mid-to-high volume customers can now connect the ADVIA Centaur XP Immunoassay System to the ADVIA® 1800 Chemistry System, gaining efficiency through access to a broader menu of immunochemistry and chemistry tests.

Siemens also introduced the ADVIA® Decapper for the LabCell® and WorkCell® Automation Systems, which automates removal of test tube caps, reducing manual labor associated with processing patient samples. Additionally, Siemens has received FDA Clearance to connect between the ADVIA Centaur XP Immunoassay System and the StreamLAB® Analytical Workcell, creating efficiencies for customers by connecting a high-speed immunoassay system to a scalable, open-architecture automation system.
