Phoenix-area Hospitals Choose HMS for EHR, Emergency Department and Meaningful Use Expertise
Gilbert Hospital and Florence Hospital at Anthem, both southeast of Phoenix, have chosen the comprehensive electronic health record (EHR) from Healthcare Management Systems Inc.(HMS) to support rapid growth plans and help enhance quality of care while preparing its hospitals for meaningful use attestation.
The hospitals, along with their clinical and administrative hospital leaders, chose to partner with HMS because of its meaningful use track record and ability to rapidly implement its comprehensive EHR and emergency department information system (EDIS). The hospitals will also work with HMS’ EHR Initiatives Group for meaningful use consulting services to help accelerate the Stage 1 attestation process.
“It was clear from the beginning that HMS understood the needs of our facilities and the patients we serve because HMS has been fully committed to the project and helping us achieve our short- and long-term goals,” said Laurel Molloy, Chief Nursing Officer for Gilbert Hospital. “We are working hard to not only make emergency and traditional care more convenient, but we’re also focused on being more efficient and increasing patient care and safety, which HMS’ solutions will help us do.”
The hospitals’ aggressive growth plans will help ensure that local residents, and the area’s annual influx of winter visitors, have access to full-service and high-quality healthcare facilities, including state-of-the-art emergency departments. Gilbert Hospital and Florence Hospital at Anthem are the only facilities in the Valley to guarantee that emergency department patients will see a board-certified physician within 31 minutes. This approach was established at Gilbert Hospital, which experiences more than 40,000 emergency department visits each year; the facility’s “Door to Doc in 31 Minutes”™ promise is well known throughout the Phoenix area.
“Our comprehensive EHR and EDIS deliver the scalability that these two hospitals need to simultaneously meet their growth and patient-care objectives,” said Steve Starkey, interim-president and chief operating officer of HMS. “We are excited to partner with Gilbert Hospital and Florence Hospital at Anthem as they continue growing to meet the healthcare needs of their communities.”
