New Anvita Insight 4.0 Clinical Analytics Engine Drives Better Patient Care
State-of-the-art clinical analytics solution supports meaningful use, offering powerful, intuitive end-user tools for easier rules management.
San Diego, October 14, 2010—Bridging the gap between health care providers and payers with a powerful tool to improve care coordination and patient outcomes, clinical analytics pioneer Anvita Health™ released the latest version of its powerful Anvita™ Insight clinical analytics engine. Building upon the analytics framework embraced by leading payers, providers and electronic medical records, the new version 4.0 release includes key features that will lead the analysis and reporting needs of health care organizations well into the next decade.
Anvita Insight 4.0’s noteworthy innovations include the ability to conduct both real-time and batch analyses with one engine, as well as web-based end-user tools that enable full customization of analyses and reporting. These new features add to the list of Anvita Insight’s engine’s capabilities that accomplish myriad sophisticated analytics challenges that frequently take multiple analytics engines to achieve.
Batch and Real-time Analysis Hybrid and Scalability
The Anvita Insight engine, under development and refinement for more than a decade, is a comprehensive middleware solution that can analyze health data from more sources than any other engine, and provide deep clinical insights with a 360-degree view of individual patients or populations.
According to Research Vice President Joanne Galimi at Gartner, “A comprehensive view of member data is a critical element of achieving better patient outcomes and reducing costs, particularly as health insurers focus on the health and wellness and care management requirements of U.S. health care reform.”
“The clearest and most insightful view of a patient or population is achieved only when all the available data is analyzed,” said Anvita Health Chief Medical Officer and co-founder Ahmed Ghouri, M.D. “The output from the Anvita Insight engine informs care management and intervention programs, population analysis, and quality reporting so that payers and providers can take immediate and specific action.”
Version 4.0 enhances Anvita Insight’s existing real-time and batch mode capabilities by offering a real-time hybrid mode, in which point-of-care data from an electronic medical record or health information exchange can be intermixed with medical and pharma claims data. The mixed-mode, composite data can then analyzed in real time.
This new hybrid mode allows for both on-demand and scheduled analysis of data drawn from the same patient-centric database, ensuring consistency and to-the-second accuracy of resulting analysis tasks and reports. This new feature provides added flexibility to health care organizations seeking data-driven solutions to improve the quality and lower the cost of health care for their members and clients.
“We’ve built an exceedingly scalable solution that companies can grow into, enabling them to analyze in tens of millions of lives each workday,” said Ghouri. For example, the Anvita Insight 4.0 engine can analyze 4.2 million lives per hour using 12 commodity servers in batch mode. In real-time mode for point of care applications, analysis results are delivered in sub-second time.
Sophisticated End-User Tools
The Anvita Insight 4.0 release includes two additional tools to help organizations make the most of their implementations:
Anvita Focus Rules Manager – Total Customization: The Anvita Focus rules management tool – a standard feature of the Anvita Insight 4.0 engine – allows the customer to select evidenced-based rules from more than 60 industry guideline sources, to be used for analysis, assign rule priorities, and even author their own rules, all through an intuitive web-based user interface. With a universe of more than 20,000 evidence-based rules to choose from, users may sort by:
- Rule source (e.g., American Academy of Family Physicians, American Heart Association)
- Rule category (e.g., Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Abnormal lab follow-up)
- Rule type (e.g., gap in care, drug-to-age, drug-to-disease, HEDIS, quality reporting)
Anvita Focus also facilitates multi-client rules management for payers managing clinical analyses for multiple groups.
Anvita Insight Viewer – Dashboard for Managing Groups and Individual Patients: The Anvita Insight Viewer, another standard feature of Anvita Insight 4.0, provides an at-a-glance comprehensive view of the patient or population analyzed. For populations, summary statistics and individual patient lists are displayed for those who have triggered alerts once the analysis is run. The user can then drill down to the individual patient view to see a complete medical history, along with any alerts the patient may have triggered.
Additional Features Addressing Upcoming Payer and Provider Needs
The versatility of the Anvita Insight 4.0 engine enables a host of solutions that address specific payer and provider needs, including but not limited to:
Meaningful use: Anvita Insight 4.0 supports several Meaningful Use criteria that require analytics, including: real-time clinical decision support; drug-drug, -allergy and -formulary checks; and reporting ambulatory quality measures to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Comprehensive drug safety checks: Because of the comprehensive clinical data set from which Anvita Insight 4.0 can compute, drug safety checks can include safety-checked therapeutic alternatives with co-pay data, checks for drug-lab value interactions and more.
Gaps in care analysis with provider and patient alerts: Anvita Insight 4.0 analyzes and reports on gaps in care with a highly customizable rules engine for customers’ changing needs.
HCC chart analysis: Anvita Insight 4.0 can analyze clinical data from patient medical records to identify missing or expired Medicare Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) codes, and produce a chart list for further investigation.
The Anvita Insight 4.0 release is available now.
