Connexall 4.3 Enables Industry’s Highest Level of Hospital Collaboration
Toronto, Ontario and Boulder, Colorado—From smart beds to HVAC systems, patient monitoring devices to RFID chips, electronic medical records to nurse call solutions, the ability send critical patient data across devices and systems is still a major pain point for hospitals. Connexall® 4.3 is the latest version of the industry’s leading hospital-wide middleware application that unifies all existing and disconnected systems and devices to deliver enhanced clinical workflow, decision support and two-way information exchange – ultimately ensuring higher patient safety and a better overall patient experience.
“While a range of healthcare technologies have been designed to improve connectivity and most large vendors claim they can ‘easily integrate any system,’ the majority of departments within hospitals are still siloed, and critical data from both stationary and mobile devices and other systems fails to make it to the right people at the right time,” said John Elms, CEO of Connexall USA. “Connexall 4.3 enables providers to avoid breaking the bank on complex, cumbersome integrations in order to share data across systems and devices and ensure that patient information flows to and from clinicians in real-time at the point of care.”
Because Connexall 4.3 is vendor-neutral and backed by numerous existing integrations between industry-leading systems, the application can connect any device or task to any collaboration tool or software. Connexall 4.3 also offers providers one view across the virtual system, proving one place to capture and report on patient and event data. With a global install base of more than 600 hospitals and health systems, Connexall 4.2 customers have already begun upgrading to the 4.3 system.
“Connexall’s ability to integrate multiple monitoring systems, staff assignments and map workflow to the communication technology has resulted in significant efficiency gains”, notes Angel Glover, Nurse Manager of Willis-Knighton Health System. “After implementing Connexall at Willis-Knighton, we’ve noted an improvement in our ability to identify and respond more effectively to critical alarm notifications. The reporting capability provides us with a detailed audit trail consisting of time of alarm, delivery of alarm and acknowledgement of alarm notifications.”
In addition to existing features such as high availability, compatibility with all previous Connexall integrations, MS-SQL Event Database and analogue data and reporting, Connexall 4.3 now includes:
- Stryker®“Smart Bed” integration – With the risks and high costs associated with falls, which statistics show account for 75 percent of inpatient incidents, this technology promises enormous potential savings. The wireless solution helps enhance patient safety and increase efficiency by providing more informed care at the bedside while reducing time spent on routine bed checks. Connexall 4.3 includes a range of updates around customizable triggers and alarms and enhanced safety and liability protection.
- Email and SMPP (text messaging) closed loop acknowledgement – This new enhancement ensures email notifications are never missed by giving clinicians and other caregivers the option to treat e-mail notifications like notifications from wireless devices. When an alarm triggers email, recipients now have the option to respond directly through Connexall.
- Web Relay – Alternative to Connexall Smartboard. IP based, can communicate via the internet or via network cables. Only tangible difference is for a remote site you would only require a web-relay, rather than a computer + output boards onsite. Comparison is like Rauland vs. Hill-Rom, two alternatives to the same solution.
