CDC Issues Infection Prevention Guidance for Ambulatory Care
July 15, 2011—To help prevent healthcare-acquired infections in outpatient (ambulatory care) settings, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and its Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee offer two free tools at CDC.gov:
The Guide to Infection Prevention for Outpatient Settings: Minimum Expectations for Safe Care and the Infection Prevention Checklist for Outpatient Settings: Minimum Expectations for Safe Care
The CDC intends for the checklist to be used for two purposes: 1) to ensure that the facility has appropriate infection prevention policies and procedures in place and supplies to allow healthcare personnel to provide safe care and 2) to systematically assess infection prevention practices of individual healthcare personnel.
