Children’s Hospital and Medical Center Selects iSirona for Medical Device Integration

Panama City, Florida—iSirona®, a provider of simplified solutions for medical device integration, announced that Children’s Hospital and Medical Center of Omaha, Nebraska, will be implementing iSirona’s device connectivity solution in conjunction with the launch of their new Epic EMR. Ranked one of the top pediatric hospitals for orthopedics and cardiology in the nation, Children’s will be ultimately connecting devices enterprise-wide-across in-patient care areas, oncology units, the emergency department and pre- and post-operative care units.

iSirona’s software-based solution can connect virtually any medical device to the electronic medical record. This flexibility is crucial for Children’s, which plans to integrate approximately 200 monitors and at least 20 ventilators in the first phase of its implementation.

“From a technical perspective, iSirona’s solution provides us with the flexibility we were looking for,” says Dr. George Reynolds, CMIO & CIO of Children’s. “But the most critical benefit occurs on the clinical side. When nurses spend less time charting, they can spend more time providing direct care-and this contributes to better outcomes for our patients.”

Children’s Hospital and Medical Center is scheduled to go live in the spring of 2013.
